Paul GodwinPaul Godwin is a music composer with a rainbow-like range of technical and creative palletes. Based on a diverse background in traditional broadcasting and music, he now serves up fresh original music and sound designs for new media applications from his New Dog Music studio in San Francisco. His most recent projects include the live big-band music and retro sound design for Gravity/Grolier's Banzai Bug computer game; Microsoft/Curve's VRML 2.0 CD-ROM; songwriting for Purple Moon and Internet sound design for MPath, Intervista and HotWired. Originally from New York City, Paul spent the last decade creating music for dance records, TV commercials and feature films such as "Road Scholar". He is the recipient of the Gold Lion from the Cannes Film Festival for his 1991 IKEA commercial campaign. With Kevin George and Phil Harrington, Paul is a creator of Online Voce, a group vocal attunement held in avatar-based environments on the Net. He is a frequent speaker at conferences and has been seen at The Doors of Perception '95 in Amsterdam, SIGGRAPH '96 in New Orleans, Earth to Avatars '96 in San Francisco, and at SIGGRAPH L.A. in 1997 where he chaired a panel entitled "Sounding Off on Audio: The Future of Internet Sound." Paul studied Radio, Television and Film at Northwestern University and holds a B.A. in Music Production and Engineering from Berklee College of Music, Boston. Paul also records and performs with DOGON, the Venezuelan/American electronic duo whose critically acclaimed debut CD "notdunjusta" and the recently released followup "The Sirius Expeditions" are available on New Dog Records. |
