Carla King returned from a four-month circumnavigation of America on a Russian sidecar motorcycle to head up the Netcast team at Digital Be-In #8 and continued her role as Netcast manager until Be-In 12 where she is Associate Producer.

Carla is a San Francisco-based travel and technology writer and author of The American Borders Dispatches created in 1995, one of the first travelogues on the Internet. With her writer's group, the Wild Writing Women, she self-published a critically acclaimed travel anthology that will be re-published by The Globe-Pequot Press in Spring of 2002 as Wild Writing Women: Stories of World Travel .

Previous works include a guidebook to mountain biking the Alpes-Maritimes (Cycling the French Riviera), stories about a bicycle ride from Dakar, Senegal to Abdijan, Ivory Coast (a good story about this trip appears in Travelers' Tales: Food), and bicycle and motorcycle trips through Europe and Jamaica. She has also penned stories for many travel magazines and newspaper travel sections, and has been interviewed on television and radio shows about travel, technology, and motorcycles.

When she's not writing about being on the road, Carla writes about technology for magazines and Web sites like Sun Microsystems' Dot-Com Builder developer site, and in multimedia for Verbum, Inc .
