Claire Korich- Altar Artist/Altar Room Coordinator
Altar Art-- Do you have small objects or words that inspire or provoke thought? Creating a space for personal interpretation of symbolism and adopting symbols is a transformative art. Altar art at this year's Be-in represented Politics, Eastern and Western religions, goddesses, gods, the four directions and elements, the earth, alien life, time, space and computer technology. The diverse collaboration of artists and their altar art created a center point of beauty, interpretation and thought for participants. I grew up in the small town of Cool CA, moved into the suburbs of Sacramento and floated around many parts of this state until I found my home in San Francisco. Raised Catholic I viewed sacred spaces and spirituality from the spectator seat watching men create the environment for spirituality. Feeling little for the people and lessons given to me I began to explore and create spiritual multi-cultural spaces for myself and eventually created the opportunity to share it with others thru the rave community. Working with technology of sound, light, mixed with symbolism of eastern and western religions I feel and share with others the connection of freedom and love. Creating spaces and events has taken me to many amazing places and communities such as the Black Rock Desert for Burning Man, Portland OR, Hawaii, and many amazing beaches up and down the coast and hidden spots in the Sierra Nevadas. I work with a collective called Gateway Systems, together we bring people together to celebrate and create different realities through an advanced sound system we designed and built, laser lights, intelligent lighting, nature and art. |
